Make it last.
- Keep sittings two weeks apart and use the homecare in between — the course is built around both.
- Dry your scalp fully after washing and after getting caught in the rain. Don’t tie up or sleep on damp hair.
- Wash combs, pillow covers and your helmet lining or cap regularly.
- If you oil your hair, keep it short and wash it out well — oil left on for hours can make flaking worse.
- Try not to scratch or pick at flakes; it irritates the scalp further.
Questions.
How much is a dandruff treatment?
The SP Alchemy dandruff treatment starts at ₹1,200 a sitting for men and ₹1,500 for women. It’s done as a course of four sittings, two weeks apart, with homecare in between.
Will one sitting clear my dandruff?
Usually not. Dandruff tends to come back, which is why the treatment is planned as four sittings with homecare, and why most people need some ongoing care with the right shampoo afterwards.
Why is my dandruff worse in the monsoon?
The yeast linked to dandruff thrives on warm, damp, oily scalps. Humidity, sweat under a helmet and hair that stays wet for hours all help it along, so dry your scalp properly and wash a little more often.
Should I keep oiling my hair?
That same yeast feeds on oil, so heavy or overnight oiling can make flaking worse. If you love your oil, keep it to a short massage before you wash and shampoo it out well.
Is it dandruff or just a dry scalp?
Dry-scalp flakes are small, white and powdery, and the skin feels tight. Dandruff flakes are often larger and slightly oily, with an itchy scalp. Your stylist will look before recommending anything.
When should I see a dermatologist instead?
See a doctor if your scalp is red, sore, weeping or bleeding, if the flakes are thick and crusted, if there are bald patches, or if it spreads to your face, ears or eyebrows. The same goes if a month of anti-dandruff care hasn’t helped — these can be signs of a condition that needs medical treatment.
Does dandruff cause hair fall?
Not directly, but scratching an itchy, inflamed scalp can make shedding worse. If you’re losing a lot of hair, ask about the SP hair-loss treatment — and check sudden or heavy hair fall with a doctor.
